It's been said that mind can directly influence matter. What about real levitation? It has raised plenty of debates whether is it possible or not!
For the sake of simplicity and contradiction that may appear I will divide and categorize a few section and notions.
From a religious and spiritualist notion
Numerous incidents of levitation have been recorded in Christianity and Islam. Among the first was Simon Magus in the first century. Other incidents reported among the Roman Catholic saints include the incident of Joseph of Cupertino (1603-1663), the most famous, who is said to have often levitated through the air. It is reported he often gave a little shriek just before levitating, and on one occasion levitated for as long as two hours.
Saint Teresa of Avila was another well known saint who reported levitating. She told of experiencing it during states of rapture. One eyewitness, Sister Anne of the Incarnation, said Saint Teresa levitated a foot and a half off the ground for about a half hour.
Incidents also have been reported in the religions of Hinduism and Buddhism. Milarepa, the great thirteenth century yogi of Tibet, is said to have possessed many occult powers such as the ability to walk, rest and sleep during levitating.
Throughout history the determining factor for judging whether the practice of levitation is caused by good or evil influenced seems to depend on the one doing the levitating. Simon Magus was judged evil while Saint Teresa was said to do it in states of rapture. During the Middle Ages and Renaissance levitation was thought to be a manifestation of evil. It was said to be an unusual phenomena generated by witchcraft, fairies, ghosts, or demons.
From a physics notion
Some physical mediums claimed to have experienced levitations. The most famous is Daniel Douglas Home, who reportedly did it over a forty-year period. In 1868 he was witnessed levitating out of a third-story window, and he floated back into the building through another window. When levitating Home was not always in a trance, but conscious and later described his feelings during the experiences.
Also a theorem due to Samuel Earnshaw proves that it is not possible to achieve static levitation using any combination of fixed magnets and electric charges. Static levitation means stable suspension of an object against gravity. There are, however, a few ways of to levitate by getting round the assumptions of the theorem.
It was proved in 1842 that it is impossible to stably levitate any static array of magnets by any arrangement of fixed magnets and gravity. However, the addition of diamagnetic materials makes such levitation possible.
So the essential question that raises here is if levitation can be acquired by very strong magnetic field or just by pure brain power. I leave it up to you to answer this question. All I would say is that nothing is impossible!

If properly handled, kids can learn levitation easily, which is why in buddhism, parents teach their youngs to have peace in mind from the beginning, and train them how to defy gravity. Levitation is real if you believe and experience it, and mainly and 'magic' is mind over power. If you put your mind to it, you can learn levitation and such, as I did. Here's the simplest 5 feet levitation technique- Stand up straight, preferably outside, and where there aren't any people watching, because you will lose your concentration, in and exhale deeply about 6-10 times, concentrate on the soles of your feet, as if sending your blood to them, close your eyes, raise your hands to a 90 degree angle above the ground, relax yourself completely, but keep in mind not to think about anything but what you're about to do, keep your mind on the level of your feet, slowly raise yourself to your toes and if your practice enough of that about every day, for around 5 days, you wont have to raise to your toes, as soon as your concentration is at you -foot- level, you should levitate. If/After you do, make sure to try and keep it straight, one movement and you will end up with your face on the floor. After a few practices you could do it with your eyes open, and destractions from the 'audience'. for those of us who use logic, we would at first assume that God counts levitation as witchcraft or some form of sorcery, and the power to levitate could only come from allowing demons to control you. If it turns out that levitaion isn't witchcraft, and the mind can control matter, I'll believe in levitation without demons, but I have never even heard of the mind being able to change the temperature, let alone defy gravity.

Wow. I never realized how many of you "sheep" strayed from the flock... Haha. Levitation is an ILLUSION. Not magic or majik or spiritual enlightenment/practice makes perfect. It has nothing to do with concentration but if you feel like standing on your lawn (assuming you have one and you aren't 11 years old or "handicapable" and concentrating on your feet/chi/god or any other figment of your simple and "sheepish" imagination, feel free to do so. Anyway, the real SECRET... (whispering... eyes scanning the room for listening ears) to levitation is to cowboy up and try it from a building like your hero Criss Angel did. Remember, as long as you hold that false vision of a god in your heat, concentrate on your toes and chi and blood, you will be fine when you step off the 14th floor. Anyway, the real reason why levitation is not that believable throughtout people is because since somewhere around the middle ages, all people that tried to do something like that were considered witches/demons and were killed, therefore no one tried it at that time. Later on, the laws of physics came into play and if you believed in levitation and such, you were considered a lunatic and put into a hospital. Even more later on, around the 19th century or so, people started to like magic and some actually started believing in it and going on such shows, even though most of those shows were illusions, but even if it was real, everything they did was considered an illusion. most recently, houdini, copperfield, and criss angel were/are liked and idolized by people because they were able to dedicate their lifes to the art of magic and use their brains in areas that no one has ever used, such as levitation, telekinesis, etc. Gravity has quite a strong control on us, but by having our brains send signals that we don't want to be affected by it (gravity), we don't (if we send those signals properly, of course). If you can't understand these signals, just think of our brain as an unique "remote control" and gravity as a channel on the tv (the earth). this is just my interpretation of levitation, but even if it's wrong, there is no doubt that levitation is possible since criss angel levitated on top of the luxor in front of everyone in las vegas, and you could clearly see that there was no helicopters or anything pulling him up and surely nothing on him that would make him go up, such as a personal flying machine (it would just be too big). peace

I'm kind of scared to tell any one I know because I don't want them to think I'm a witch or something voodoo or something.
