Who said that giant squids don't exist! Recently a giant squid as long as a bus has washed up on a beach on the west coast of Tasmania. It is the first time a giant squid had washed ashore on Tasmania's west coast.
The giant squid was found by a beachcomber in Tasmania and was to be taken to the Tasmanian Museum for testing and possible display. Zoology experts from the museum are hoping to determine its age and how it died.
The squid was measured eight metres from the tip of its body to the end of its tentacles, also weighs about 250 kilograms. The hood of the squid is about two metres long and the body a couple of metres long.
Scientists, who see it as an exciting and intriguing discovery, will take DNA and tissue samples from the sea monster before transporting it to Hobart for a post-mortem examination.
After the team of experts had taken the measuring of the eight-metre long Archotheuthis said to be one of the biggest squids ever discovered.
