300

It seems everyone can't wait to see the epic novel by Frank Miller called simply "300" an ancient myth about 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army.
"300" is an adaptation of Frank Miller's epic graphic novel. Using hyper-real renderings similar to Miller's own graphically stylized illustrations, the film tells the true story of 300 elite Spartan warriors led by their fearless king Leonidas, who thwart the charge of Xerxes and his massive Persian army at the battle of Thermopylae. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian foe, leading to the origins of democracy.
The movie for the most part is stays very true to Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae. That is to say it is exceptionally, violent, misogynistic, militaristic, xenophobic, and it revels in the implied cultural superiority of ancient Greece and the West in general.
In other words, it is the perfect movie for your average Arthur's Hall reader. 300 is without a doubt one of the manliest films of the past few decades. Only time will tell if 300 will be canonized alongside films like Predator and Die Hard as one of the manliest films of all time, but one thing is for sure; Zach Snyder has directed a movie that deserves your support and hard earned money. See for yourself in the trailer.
It is released in both conventional and IMAX theaters in America on March 9, 2007. The film became a box office record-breaker, although critics were divided over the film's look and style. Some acclaimed it as the next level of film making while others accused it of favoring visuals over characterization.
